Vino Rioja

The time is finished or wines of Rioja arose only from a single vine. Today 1200 Bodegas of this region convert into wine separately several varieties, to optimize each of them, while allying at once ancestral methods but turn to the new technologies.

The 60 000 hectares of the vineyard arise from the oldest and of the most important Spanish AOC. Rioja groups includes 3 different wine-producing zones which are: Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa, who benefit from a continental climate with differences different from temperature variations, more moderated in Rioja Alta and Alavesa, thanks to the sierra of Cantabria who slow down the wind coming from the North, and drier in Rioja Baja. Each of these zones is under the Mediterranean influence of Ebre which crosses them.

This specific geographical situation, between 3 mountainous systems, in the North the sierra Cantabria, in the South the sierra of Demanda for it and the sierra of Cameros, facilitates a particular microclimatic development adapted to the breeding of the vineyard.

The AOC accepts 4 varieties of vines red, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, and 3 white vines, Malvesia, Garnacha Blanca and Viura.

Recently, vines Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Tempranillo blanco, Verdejo are a part of vines of white of the AOC.
